Biography
Lindsay Steele joined PNNL's TP&D group in fall of 2009 as a Senior Research Scientist. He has been involved in LED and SSL technology applications and product R&D in the signage and lighting industries for the past 9 years. Prior to joining PNNL, he was the Director of Lighting Technology at Everbrite LLC, a lighting and signage company in Milwaukee, WI.
Lindsay is supporting the commercialization of solid state lighting in developing reliability criteria for the 21st Century lamp specifications. He provides technical expertise in developing testing criteria, characterization, factsheets and standards for SSL reliability. He is also involved in the development of solid state lighting standards for lighting products and applications.
Lindsay's academic background researching dimensionality effects in thin films led to a career in R&D and manufacturing of flat panel displays for commercial, industrial and military applications. This in turn created an interest in other display technologies, eventually LED. Lindsay's continued interest in LED technology allowed him to deepen his appreciation of optical and color science eventually applying his knowledge and experience to SSL development.
