Biography
Marye Hefty most recently joined PNNL in June 2009 and works in PNNL's Portland office. She supports the DOE Building America program.
Before joining PNNL in Energy Science and Technology Directorate, Marye taught at Oregon Institute of Technology as a full professor in the Communication Department. Her responsibilities included teaming with mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineering professors to design and teach the senior-project course (a year-long writing, speaking, and project management course in which students design, develop, and market engineering projects); managing the OIT student newspaper and journalism program; writing grants; and co-managing and editing the production of the 10-year OIT self-study for institutional accreditation.
During summer breaks from OIT, Marye worked in industry, including several summers at PNNL in Richland supporting the Building America program and National Security Division. Before teaching at OIT, Marye worked for almost 9 years in PNNL's Communications department and 1 year in a consulting firm. During this time, her specialties involved managing the production of large documents and facilitating meetings.
