Biography
Alice Orrell joined PNNL in September 2008 as an Energy Analyst in the TP&D group. Her focus is on renewable resource assessments, particularly wind energy.
Alice is a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington and worked in the power industry prior to joining PNNL. As an independent consultant in the wind power industry, her work included building financial pro forma models for developers and distributed wind market studies. She created the Windustry Toolbox Calculator, an Excel pro forma model available online and free to potential wind power project developers to use as a first step in determining if their projects are financially viable.
She also worked as an engineer for an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contractor designing natural gas fueled power plants. As a power plant design engineer, Alice’s duties spanned the full range of the project development process and included developing heat balances, sizing and specifying equipment for price quotation, evaluating equipment bids from vendors, and writing scope of work documents for proposal packages.
