Biography

Mia Paget is currently managing the DOE's Solid State Lighting Commercial Product Testing Program to provide guidance and support to the DOE SSL commercialization efforts and to provide objective product performance information to the public. Mia also applies her expertise toward the research and development of new solutions for the current and future energy grid by providing assistance to the GridWise Architecture Council and through research in human factors and situational awareness in power grid control systems.

Before joining PNNL in 2003, Mia worked overseas for over 10 years as a management consultant in international industry sectors bridging the gaps between organizations, communications, and IT projects. She honed her analytic and communications skills with clients in a range of complex industries including energy, nuclear waste reprocessing, international transportation, and high-tech electronic components.

Mia's information technology skills were also enhanced through leading numerous intranet/extranet projects, where she had a direct role in designing, developing and implementing strategic web-based applications in private industry sectors. Her skills in internet technologies cover graphic design, dynamic, integrated pages, planning and maintenance of decentralized applications, integration with legacy systems, and deployment through decentralized organizations.

Previously, Mia has also worked in international oil and gas exploration, gaining first-hand experience from well-sites to back-office analyses, and teaching high-level seminars on the human factors surrounding risk in complex industries.
